Every person requesting access to a technical building or space from KPN. For technical proceedings additional certificates are required.

Goal

Providing insight in the composition and importance of technical buildings of KPN. Additionally, this module’s goal is to provide knowledge and skills in acting safely in technical buildings for both man and equipment.

Program

This module focuses on the importance of technical buildings for providing KPN’s customers with service. KPN as supplier and employer, awareness, safety, and behavior and regulations are keywords for this module.

After this e-learning module you can:

• describe the global composition of the telecommunication infrastructure
• mention the most important parts from the telecommunication infrastructure
• explain the function and importance of a technical building
• explain the function of domain separation
• discern the different rooms within technical buildings
• easily find a space on the basis of space numbering
• recognize and explain the different parts of technical spaces
• explain the importance of the KPN services
• describe access procedures for technical buildings
• point out the risks of proceedings for the customer
• mention and apply regulations with respect to physically and technically cleaning of the rooms
• explain the importance of air treatment equipment
• explain risks of (safely) working in battery and power supply rooms
• mention proceedings that are allowed to be executed with a certain function profile
• describe the importance of wearing ESD clothing and shoes
• describe the importance of ESD-safe packaging and mark the difference between ESD safe and unsafe packaging
• discern ESD and non-ESD safe furniture
• mention dangers of not acting ESD safely
• recognize and avoid unsafe situations with respect to electrical installations, laser safety, grounding and air treatment
• describe regulations with respect to reporting irregularities
• recognize the function and importance of the telecommunication equipment
• protect yourself from dangers in optical equipment
• apply the ‘10 Orange Rules’
• apply safety measures with respect to working safely in an active fiber network and in battery rooms
• apply safety measures with respect to working ESD safely
• address colleagues on risks, mistakes and acting incorrectly
• report:
  • unsafe situations for man and equipment
  • defective lighting
  • loose grounding
  • incorrectly positioned and removed floor tiles
  • obstruction of air treatment equipment
  • damage to buildings

Exam
After studying this module you can make an online final exam. The result of this exam is reported directly afterwards. In case of a successful completion of the exam you can print a certificate ('verklaring') and your result will be registered in the KPN database. After three years this will no longer be valid and you will have to recertify.

Important note:
Subscription necessitates a personal e-mail account and a KPN registration number that you have to fill in at the remark field. If you do not yet know your KPN registration number, fill in ‘Unknown’ and request this number as soon as possible. We can not process your request without a KPN registration number. After canceling your subscrition no course money will be refunded after providing login data.

Study forms

This e-learning module is either in Dutch or English. You have to finish the module within one month. The second attempt is for participants who failed for the final test of Toegang Technische Gebouwen. You will receive a mail from Dirksen e-coaching if the second attempt is available online for you. You have to use the same login data as you have received in your first mail. You have one month to complete your second attempt.
